The Sound of the Water
Lakes Manyara – Ndutu – Natron & Ol Doinyo Lengai
Where do we go?
Our adventure starts with a visit to the Lake Manyara UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a refuge for hundreds of bird species and a stopover for the great migrations of flamingos and pelicans. On the lakeshore, all kinds of mammals can be seen gazing at the pink color of the flamingos. With zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, leopards and the famous tree climbing lions all to be seen, the experience is quite unique. After visiting the Lake we go to the Serengeti National Park, where the three nights we spend are in themselves one of the most unforgettable trips a nature lover can take. From Serengeti we head to the magnificent Ol Doinyo Lengai, the Mountain of God, a sacred “Maasai” mountain and active volcano that can be climbed (6 hours of difficult ascent at night, to avoid the extreme heat of this area), ending with a unique spectacle, seeing the boiling red hot lava with your own eyes. At the foot of this wonder, we find an aquatic paradise for birds, Lake Natron, visited by hundreds of thousands of birds that feed on its rich sulfated water, full of small crustaceans.
Where do we stay?
In the park, in our mobile campsite, giving us the feeling of being in the farthest away place in the world. We will discover how the species inhabiting the park enjoy a virgin space and we will enjoy nights around the fire, with a delicious dinner prepared by our chef Grace, under the stars, accompanied by the incomparable sound of the African night. Our mobile campsite enjoys a unique location. No one else can camp in this remote place while we are there.
Finally, after an intense trip visiting the wonderful nature of Tanzania, we will spend two nights at the Africa Amini Lodge, a peaceful retreat run entirely by the area’s inhabitants, the Maasai warriors. In this haven of peace, our hosts will teach us how to use their spears, and we will see their famous athletic dances and sit around the fire to share a drink with them, while they talk to us about their people, their culture and their future. An amazing lodge, run exclusively by small 100% indigenous small businesses that offer an authentic experience with a positive impact on local Tanzanian communities.
